Jo volia ser fotògraf és una selecció de gairebé quatre centes fotografies preses entre els anys 2005 i 2016 i són el testimoni del treball dut a terme per arribar a ser fotògraf.
I wanted to be a photographer is a selection of almost four hundred photographs took between 2005 and 2016 and it is the testimony of the work made in order to become a photographer.

Exposició col·lectiva comissariada per Anna Planas i Fannie Escoulen. Artistes participants: Laurence Aëgerter, Antoine d'Agata, Roger Guaus, Mishka Henner, Sherrie Levine, Michael Mandiberg, Doug Rickard, Thomas Ruff, Oliver Sieber & Katja Stuke, Stéphanie Solinas i Jan Hofer & Severin Zaugg.
L'exposició Jo volia ser fotògraf convida a la reflexió sobre què significa avui dia ser fotògraf i en el canvi d'estatut que es manifesta al voltant de la imatge en la creació contemporània. Onze projectes seleccionats per les comissàries Fannie Escouleni Anna Planas, que es mostren tan en paret com en format llibre, analitzen els canvis profunds que s'estan produint en la pròpia definició de l'acte fotogràfic.
La diversitat de projectes inclosos a l'exposició ens mostra apropaments molt diferents, ja siguin polítics, poètics o extravagants, però que sempre reten homenatge a la fotografia, a la seva tècnica i a la seva estètica, mostrant-nos així els límits cada cop més oberts de la pròpia creació.
El títol de l'exposició prové del projecte de Roger Guaus Jo volia ser fotògraf, presentat a la mostra.

The exhibition "I Wanted to Be a Photographer" approaches the question of what it means being a photographer today and how the status of the image is changing in contemporary creation. Through thirteen international artists selected by curators Fannie Escoulen and Anna Planas, the show will explore the deep changes that are taking place in the definition of the photographic act.
The variety of projects included in the exhibition offers us different approaches to the question, from political, poetical, vernacular and collective gestures, but always paying tribute to photography, to its techniques, ethics and aesthetics; and therefore, showing the increasingly open limits of creation itself.
The title of the exhibition comes from the work “I wanted to be a photographer” by Roger Guaus in the exhibition.
