DIENTE DE CHUCHO

Sobre el estado de desorientación y de alerta constante de un fotógrafo desubicado en un lugar desconocido. Muestra el paso de los días inmerso en situaciones incontrolables, evocando paisajes y espacios aparentemente comunes. El factor humano como ingrediente reiterativo, siendo parte de imágenes directas de un autor incapaz de tomar distancia entre lo objetivo y lo emocional. Fotografías realizadas desesperadamente en una estancia de veintiocho días en Ciudad de Guatemala.

Observe the state of confusion and permanent alert of a disoriented photographer in an unknown place. Immersed in uncontrollable situations. Evoking apparently common landscapes and spaces. Here, the human factor is used as a reiterative ingredient of straightforward images from an author unable to separate the emotional from the objective. Photographs desperately taken during a 28 day inquiry in Ciudad de Guatemala.

“Ésta es la relación de cómo todo estaba en suspenso, todo en calma, en silencio; todo inmóvil, callado, y vacía la extensión del cielo. Esta es la primera relación, el primer discurso. No había todavía un hombre, ni un animal, pájaros, peces, cangrejos, árboles, piedras, cuevas, barracas, hierbas ni bosques: sólo el cielo existía. No se manifestaba la faz de la tierra. Sólo estaban el mar en calma y el cielo en toda su extensión. No había nada junto, que hiciera ruido, ni cosa alguna que se moviera, ni se agitara, ni hiciera ruido en el cielo. No había nada que estuviera en pie; sólo el agua en reposo, el mar apacible, solo y tranquilo. No había nada dotado de existencia. Solamente había inmovilidad y silencio en la oscuridad, en la noche”.

“This is the account of how all was in suspense, all calm, in silence; all motionless, still, and the expanse of the sky was empty. This is the first account, the first narrative. There was neither man, nor animal, birds, fish, crabs, trees, stones, caves, ravines, grasses, nor forests; there was only the sky. The surface of the earth had not appeared. There was only the calm sea and the great expanse of the sky. There was nothing brought together, nothing which could make a noise, nor anything which might move, or tremble, or could make noise in the sky. There was nothing standing; only the calm water, the placid sea, alone and tranquil. Nothing existed. There was only immobility and silence in the darkness, in the night”.
